5 reasons why Gobiafra loads extremely fast

#1
Just like some giant forums in Nigeria, Gobiafra pages loads very fast unlike other forums that takes up to a minute to load a page.

why must a forum load fast?
don't you think it is a necessity for a forum to load fast? When a forum loads fast it enhance the browsing conveniences of visitors both users and guests and this will make them eager to visit over and over again.

Reasons why Gobiafra Loads fast
1 - content.
as you can see gobiafra is not filled up with much content as it displays not even up to 60topics on its homepage unlike other forums.

2 - Absence of Logo.
the absence of logo on the top page of gobiafra has really contributed to its extreme load speed which is about 0.1seconds per-page. logos has huge capacity and would contribute to the slow loading of a site. just compare a site with logo to gobiafra, the difference is clear.

3 - background template & design.
thumbs up to @ojukwu cos he really did a nice job on the design of this forum which has contributed to the beast load speed.

4 - simplicity.
do i still need to explain this? we all know that something simple works well & fast.
for instance when you dress simple you will be able to walk freely unlike when you dress like someone on a trip to the moon.

5 - gobiafra's Structure.
i don't know if link are allowed here on gobiafra i would have posted the link of a site whose structure is the main architect of its slow and lame load-speed. the structure of gobiafra is very much a contributor to the load speed.

Thanks for talking high on this forum, though GoBiafra is relatively fast I believe it can even be faster. All your above points are reasonable though there are more to it. I will add a few in a moment.
Thanks.

To add to the OP.
Hosting:
Most of these Nigerian forums and blogs you are seeing are hosted on free and paid shared hosting services, GoBiafra is majestically running cloud VPS server. There is no way you can match the performance of an SSD VPS with petty shared server you just can't. I've not touched shared hosting for over 8 years now, I just can't stand the poor performance. I also prefer setting up my own OS, secure the firewall and install the need programs - Web Server, programming language, the database and the needed packages.

Web Server :
Most shared hosting services runs on Apache 2, don't get me wrong - I have no grudge against apache. I actually used it a lot in the early 2000s but I currently pitch my tent on Nginx. With php-fpm I have a near python compilation performance with the multi-threading. Add caching and you have a diamond 🔹 at your hand...  Maybe I am starting to sound geeky.

Php version: php 7 was said to have 70% improvement on php 5 so yes, I am all for php 7.

Caching: I am using memchached to chache the database alongside the default php 7's inbuilt OPchache.

Content:
As @Nigerian pointed out, the content of this forum is not that impressive but the truth here is GoBiafra is hardly 3 months, over the 20,000 posts for just 3 months old forum is not that bad.

Front page topic: for now, 40 is OK. Anything above that seems overkill for this current design. I will do a bit of rewrite to the current front page in the coming weeks.
Have not touched the code in months.
Thanks.

it depends on how responsive your blog is both in content and structure.
If your site isn't responsive it will cause Adsense to review your blog over and over and will lead to your blog taking few months before getting approved.

As @Nigerian said - quality blog, quality content = fast Approval.
As for me I still have my 9 years old Adsense account, when I registered there was nothing like manual approval. Everything was instant!

You will have to get professionally designed blog, with contact page, privacy policy page, disclaimer page, responsive design and unique articles just as Nigerian said.
I believed this forum for example will be qualified for approval if I am to apply.
Thanks.

@meekparagon @Nigerian
GoBiafra is running on cloud VPS which was purchased directly from the host. I don't think there is any Datacenter in Nigeria. Our current Internet is damn slow, no stable power supply to power and cool servers.

So, yes, we directly bought our server space from vendors and not from Nigerian web hosting resellers.
Thanks.

what I actually want u to explain to me is the difference Btw vps and host site by some company eg whogohost, and blue host site .bicus I actually have passion in creating a blog but still thinking of how to register my domain and to also choose host company....or is there anyway one can create a blog through WordPress and have full access to the blog without giving it to any company to host it for you.......

You need to get your domain name and webserver hosted somewhere for your blog to work so, yes, hosting is a must for your blog. There is no other way round.
Whogohost is a Nigerian hosting company that hosts websites for their clients through shared server hosting.
You simply can differentiate shared hosting from Virtual Private Server with just the name. Shared hosting - many users are hosted in the same ip address and share system resources, VPS users have their private servers for themselves.

Let me bring two examples to clarify this
Share hosting is like students that shares the same room in a hostel. They will share a lot of things in the room, Eg kitchen, toilets etc.
Virtual Private Server is like students that live in self contained rooms. They have privacy for everything.

Another example to show their level is
If hosting is school, shared hosting should be primary school while VPS should be secondary school.

VPS performs better than shared server because the program in it does not share the system resources with others.
There is yet another hosting higher than VPS but that is not necessary in this topic.
VPS is much more more costly than shared hosting and I won't advice you to use it unless you have a high traffic website.

I will advice you to go for shared hosts like that of Whogohost, Trudigits etc. That should be OK and even better for you as you need higher level of system administration to manage VPS and dedicated servers successfully.
Thanks.
